Tour of Qatar 2009 – Stage 3 – Boonen Takes Charge

February 3, 2009 – Tom Boonen (Bel) Quick Step took his first win of the season in Stage 3 of the Tour of Qatar today, grabbing the leader’s jersey along with the stage. Boonen, last year’s Qatar winner, is under pressure to repeat the dominance he displayed at the event last year. Danilo Napolitano (Ita) Team Katusha was hot on his heels, followed Jürgen Roelandts (Bel) Silence-Lotto in third. Canada’s Michael Barry (Can) Columbia-Highroad placed 35th.
