May 06, 2016 (Chongming Island) – The opening day of the Women’s World Tour #7 race covered 139.8km on multiple laps of a circuit course on the island of Chongming. Stage one was marked by a two-rider breakaway, with Olga Zabelinskaya (BePink) and Anna Trevisi (Ale Cipollini) staying away much of the way.

The two leaders were caught again with only 14.5km to go, with Liv-Plantur leading the chase. Multiple attacks followed, but the team controlled the field and did not let anyone get away.
