September 04, 2016 (Edmonton, AB) – Ryder Hesjedal (Trek-Segafredo) was the top Canadian on 12.1km  Stage 4 ITT won by teammate Bauke Mollema (Ned), the defending champ, who is now 2nd overall. It was Mollema’s first stage win at this year’s Tour of Albera.

“My goal was the TT and I had a good ride,” said Mollema. “It’s my first time trial win as a pro so things look good for the final stage tomorrow so we’ll just have to see.” The course took riders over the Saskatchewan River and ended at Hawrelak Park, where the ITU Edmonton Triathlon also finished earlier in the day.

Robin Carpenter (USA) Holowesko-Citadel Racing Team finished 3rd on the day and takes over the race lead with one stage remaining. Alexander Cataford (Silber Pro Cycling), who was 10th on the day, holds on to the Red Jersey as the top Canadian overall.

“It was different than using a normal TT bike,” said Cataford. “But I was still confident as I’m a strong time trialer. I’m happy to keep the red jersey but the goal is the big picture and to see if we can move up on the overall GC.”
