Tour de White Rock – Women\’s RR

July 27, 2003 (White Rock, BC) – BC Super Cycling Week ended with a bang today, completing the season long SISU BC Cup Road Championships series, the weeklong omnium for Super Week, and the Tour de White Rock event road race.

Rita Clarkson, Tour de White Rock race director, was excited about how smoothly the weekend went, and gave extra credit to the group of people she worked with. “Absolutely unbelievable. In all the years that I've done this –  I really think that is my best team that I've ever had work with me. I just had a fabulous team, best ever!”

The weekend ended with the famous Peach Arch News Tour de White Rock road race. Set on a hilly course, the race goes up and down in a figure eight loop alongside the hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean in White Rock. Twenty-seven women were present to compete for the win and it was starting to look like the race would end in a pack finish.

Bike Barn's Sarah Noble changed all that however when she attacked on the last lap, over the top of a climb. Noble went for it and opened up a gap in no time. Rona-Esker's Kristen Lasasso tried to bridge the gap and she chased alone, stuck between the lead and the main pack. Noble held on for the win, Lasasso was second and Trek Volkswagen's Marni Prazsky nipped the sprint for third.

The omnium for the week of racing went to Rona-Esker's Andrea Hannos. Second place went to newly crowned 2003 BC Cup Champ Lisa Sweeney (Team Kappa) and third went to Lasasso.
