Tour de l’Ardeche – Stage 4 Report

September 13, 2007 (Privas, France) — Today’s Stage 4 ran from Cruas to Privas. There was a lot of action at the beginning of the race with the Americans and the Kiwis trying to break away. Canada’s Moriah Jo McGregor and Alison Testroete did a very good job covering all the attacks with Testroete being part of a break with 10 others riders. But the peloton reacted pretty quick and everything came back together.

Team Menikini started to set the pace for their leader, Fabiana Luperini, just before the main 10km climb, a 1st category col. Under the work of the Menikini team, the peloton exploded on the climb and Luperini got in a break with the Spanish rider Moreno Allue. They increased their lead during the stage and Luperini won with a good gap on the chasers.

Canada’s riders had a tough day and Alex Wrubleski losted precious time on this stage finishing in 23rd position at 8:08 behind Luperini. Leigh Hobson, Erinne Willock, and Julie Beveridge, with a very surprising performance, concluded the day with Wrubleski’s group.

Wrubleski is now sitting 14th in the GC at 8:08 behind the new race leader Maribel Moreno Allue from Spain.
