September 11, 2007 – Today was the first stage of the UCI 2.2 Tour Cycliste Feminin International de l’Ardeche (Sept. 11-15) where 109 riders were at the start line of Stage 1, a 111.5 km road race. Canada’s Alex Wrubleski finished 4th in a bunch sprint behind winner, Diana Ziluite of Safi pasta. Brooke Miller of the USA placed 2nd.
Leigh Hobson, Alison Testroete, Erinne Willock and Julie Beveridge managed to finished in the main group at 13 seconds behind the leaders. Moriah Jo McGregor had a bit of problem today due to illness finishing 97th at 8:43, but she should be ok tomorrow.
Tomorrow morning, we have a TT of 9.2km followed by a 96.2km road race in the afternoon. All of the Canadian riders seem pretty confident to do well and with more time to acclimatize, we should see some interesting things.
