Toronto’s Eon D’Ornellas Recovering

by pedalmag.com

June 12, 2011 (Toronto, ON) – We just received an update to let everyone know that Eon D’Ornellas, 59, the popular and well-known owner of D’Ornellas Bike Shop in Scarborough who was rushed to York Central Hospital on Friday after he suffered a type of stroke during a club training ride, is in stable condition, out of the Intensive Care Unit, and on the road to a complete recovery.

Some of you were not aware that Eon suffered a type of stroke while riding his bike this past Friday morning on a club ride. His blood pressure went up extremely high which resulted in a blood vessel bursting in his brain causing a bleed. He was lucky to be on a group ride with others one of whom was a firefighter, Glenn, who acted swiftly to get Eon directly to York Central Hospital where he was given immediate care.

This will result in a complete recovery and while it will be a slow progression to the level that he is used to it’s a small sacrifice. The next week will be tough as we will be spending all of our efforts focused on helping Eon get back on his feet both physically and mentally, but he’s already showing good signs of improvement and we expect this progress to continue day by day. We’re grateful for the support of close friends and family and while we know many people would like to come by and see him we’ll update everyone when he’s ready. Thanks to everyone for their help and well wishes.

Warmest Regards from Eon and Bonnie

We join the cycling community in wishing Eon a speedy recovery.
