Tom Jehlicka Memorial Criterium – Aug. 3

release by Cobourg Cycling Club

August 02, 2013 (Cobourg, ON) – On Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 the Cobourg Cycling Club presents the Tom Jehlicka Memorial Criterium. This event has been sanctioned as a Citizen’s Event to give developing Ontario racers a chance to hone and perfect their racing skills. While at the same time this event has been used by some of the top Ontario racers as tune up race.

Past winners include Darko Ficko, Arron Fillion, Brent Aquino and Dave Swanson from Tucson. Former Navigator/Kodak pro Mark Walters has also been known to make a guest appearance. Chloe Black has been the field’s top woman racer and a fantastic advocate for this race and the sport of bike racing as a whole. There are a number of new, strong racers in the OCA in all fields that can be expected to be there this year too!

In order to help promote the women’s side of the sport, the Open Women’s race was added last year. Unfortunately there were not enough women available to hold the race. This year, we are again offering the Open Women’s race. However, there is a last minute schedule change.

The Open  Men’s race will START at 11:30 AM. The Open  Women’s race will begin at 1:15 PM. This is a change from the posted schedule. Please be sure to share this information with anybody that is interested.

Also, if there are competitors interested in coming from a distance and are worried about overnight costs, the Cobourg Cycling Club will be able to find some host housing if requested. Please see the Cobourg Cycling Club website for the contact information.

Day of registration will be available. Hope to see you there!
