The Welland Race – August 2-3

June 25, 2008 – The “Welland Race” is taking place on August 2 and 3 in the City of Welland. Part of the festivities of the 150th anniversary of Welland, this is a two day event on a unique course. The only multi-day road race event in Southern Ontario in 2008 will include a Saturday downtown crtierium and a Sunday road race.

Under the organization that brought the Niagara Classic, Ontario Provincial Road Race Championships, Ontario Time Trial Championships, Canadian Road Race Championship and the UCI sanctioned 2003 Nella-Cramaro Grand Prix.

Day 1 – Criterium – Saturday, August 2, 2008
Saturday, August 2 will be the Criterium in the streets of Downtown Welland. On a “figure eight”style course with 5 tight corners. Click here for more info.

Day 2 – Road Race – Sunday, August 3, 2008
Sunday, August 3 will be the Road Race. With the same downtown start/finish as the Criterium, the course will also include passing underneath the Welland Canal (without getting wet). Click here for more info.

Entry Fees
– Senior and Master – $80 (two day event, criterium & road race)
– Open Citizen – $50 (Saturday criterium only)
– Youth – $10 (Saturday criterium only)

*Note – the open citizen and youth categories will race on Saturday only.
