The Hilly Hundred A Success!

September 28, 2005 – Coinciding with Bancroft’s Septemberfest weekend on Saturday, September 24, 2005, the Hilly Hundred is billed as “the toughest century ride in Ontario.”

The Hilly Hundred began at 7:30 a.m. sharp and weaved its way through the hills and valleys of the famous Canadian Shield from Bancroft to Wilno, to Barry’s Bay and back. All routes began and ended at Millennium Park, Bancroft.

The terrain was a wonderful mix of gentle country roads, limited highway riding, and breathtaking hills carved through ancient granite bedrock. Riders travelled through some of Ontario’s most beautiful landscapes where they were be awed by the beauty of lakes, rolling hills and colorful hardwood forests.

The Hastings Highlands Highly Hundred was an outstanding success, and will be held next year as well. A total of $2,200.00 was raised for a Dialysis unit in Bancroft. 80 riders came, mostly for 160k and they all found it tough and challenging, definitely Ontario’s Toughest Century.
