June 10, 2008 (Copenhagen, Denmark) – Riis Cycling has found a new title co-sponsor in Saxo Bank reports Reuters citing a release from team owner Bjarne Riis. As part of the three-year deal signed between Riis”š ProTour team and Danish-based Saxo Bank, the team will compete in the July 5 –27 Tour de France as Team CSC/Saxo Bank.
In March of this year, California-based Computer Sciences Corp (CSC), decided to terminate its sponsorship contract at the end of 2008. Starting in 2009, the team will be called Team Saxo Bank. More specific details of the sponsorship deal where not revealed.
Bjarne Riis made news in May 2007 by admitting to doping when he won the 1997 TdF. Saxo Bank describes itself as a leading Internet bank, exclusively involved in trading and investment in: foreign exchange, contract for difference (CFDs) stock derivatives, stocks, futures and managed funds.
