October 14, 2011 – (Guadalajara, MEX) – The 2011 Pan-American Games are set to begin today in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the Canadian cycling is ready to race for medals in this international multi-sport event.
There are two changes to the Canadian team that was published earlier: David Veilleux of Cap Rouge, QC (Team Europcar) will not be racing in the road race due to fatigue, and Tory Nyhaug of Coquitlam, BC will miss the event as it does not align with this high performance training plan.
To clarify the track athletes, Stephanie Roorda of Vancouver, BC and Jacob Schwingboth of Cloverdale, BC will race the ominium in their respective categories.
Mountain bikers will race tomorrow, followed by the road time trials on Sunday. The Track events will be held from Monday to Thursday, followed by BMX on Friday and the road race next Saturday.
