September 3, 2007 – One of the world’s top female four-cross riders, Tara Llanes (USA) Giant-Pearl Izumi, broke her back during the Jeep King of the Mountain 2007 Mountain Biking World Professional Championships in Beaver Creek, Colorado, according to Fionn Griffiths’ (GBr) Norco Factory Team blog.

According to Griffiths’ blog entry, Llanes “…crashed head first into the face of a jump in her semi-final heat. Tara broke her back and is presently in Denver undergoing extensive spinal surgery.”
