Support the Glen Major Trail Improvement Project

July 21, 2006 – Do you use the Glen Major and Walkers Woods (3 Rocks) trails? Are you concerned about the degeneration of these trails? Would you like to see them improved and new trails added?

The TRCA, the Durham Conservation Association and the Glen Major Stewards, in conjunction with Sustainable Trails, the Durham Mountain Bicycling Association, Uxbridge Horsemen Association, and Oak Ridges Trail Association are beginning a long term trail repair and improvement program this summer. We will be doing over 1 km of trail redesign, repair and rerouting to launch this project and we want and need your help! Our success depends upon the hiking, riding and mountain biking communities’ support.

This work has been made possible by a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Culture, receives annually $100 million of government funding generated through Ontario’s charity casino initiative. To find out more, visit www.trilliumfoundation.org.

Come out and learn how to build sustainable trails, see some trail building machinery at work, meet other trail users, and earn some sweat equity in the trails you use. Give us a half day, or more, of your time and energy and together we’ll begin to bring positive change to the trails we love to walk and ride. Bring some friends to work with, and go for a well earned walk or ride together afterwards.
