Sprockids Newsletter

August 6, 2005 – On behalf of the Canadian Cycling Association, I wish to congratulate those who have completed our course. The Sprockids Leader’s training is all about involving young people in the life-long sport of cycling and providing program participants with happiness, laughter, a strong sense of self-esteem, camaraderie, adventure, and personal fulfillment. You are now in a position to provide these benefits to children in your community. Thank you for wanting to make a positive difference in the lives of young people and welcome to Sprockids.

For many, the idea of moving forward to stage a Sprockids program may seem daunting. I’m here to tell you not to worry. The CCA has developed an implementation guide to walk you through the process. It’s available on Sprockids.ca and it has all the details you need. In addition, I will be calling you to provide the individual support you may need to get “up and running” successfully. If you have yet to provide the CCA with your telephone number, please do so, or, drop me a quick line at 604-886-0772 or send me it by e-mail at ddetwiller@dccnet.com.

We look forward to working with you in this truly exciting and rewarding project while the weather is good and the kids are looking for a final stimulation leading into the school year!

Up for the Challenge?

At the beginning of the season, we set out some goals. By the end of October, we are aiming for 200 leaders and 2500 participants to be part of Sprockids. Right now we have close to 100 trained leaders and 100 people taking the course. Lets go out there and start some programs!

Sprockids Free Ride Camp

The idea behind this camp was to bring together a group of Sprockids teenagers and their parents for a weekend of riding and numerous other activities that enabled them to spend quality time together, to re-discover each other.
