February 28, 2011 – Canada’s David Boily (Can) SpiderTeach p/b C10 won the King of the Mountain classification in the team’s debut race on the ProTour stage at last week’s Giro di Sardegna on Italy’s Mediterranean island of Sardinia. Boily placed 70th overall after five stages in the tour, which was won by Peter Sagan (Svk) Liquigas-Cannondale.

Boily explained how he and his team worked together in order to keep the jersey: “On Stage 4 I needed to defend the jersey against Italy’s [Antonio] Santoro,” said Boily, “I had good legs and teammate Pat McCarty was our insurance in the break at the front.”

Team Director Steve Bauer was pleased with his squad’s efforts: “Exceptional racing by David Boily on his 1st Cat 1 stage race in Europe,” he said. “It was a solid effort all round as the team made every important break-away in the race.”
