Shell Canada Volunteers Benefit Alberta Cyclists

June 27, 2005 – The Alberta Bicycle Association is pleased to announce it has recently received $3000 from the Shell Canada Community Service Fund.

“The funds have been awarded to recognize and support Sean Huggins-Chan, a
Shell Canada employee. Sean Huggins-Chan regularly volunteers with the
Alberta Bicycle Association as a race official. The funds will be used to
purchase race number plates,” says Kevin MacCuish, Alberta Bicycle
Association Events Coordinator.

“Shell believes that contributions of time, effort and caring to
not-for-profit organizations benefit the entire community. Through the
Community Service Fund, we recognize and support Shell people who give
personal time to not-for-profit organizations on a regular, volunteer
basis,” says Gina Ockey, Shell Canada Public Affairs.

“We have supported Shell volunteers through the Community Service Fund for
over 30 years. In 2004, Shell Canada granted over $450,000 to nearly 320
not-for-profit organizations across Canada”.

The Alberta Bicycle Association is the sport governing body for cycling in
the province of Alberta. It is an affiliated federation of the Canadian
Cycling Association (CCA) and International Cycling Union (UCI). The
Alberta Bicycle Association sanctions cycling competition in all cycling
disciplines and also works to promote cycling for both recreation and
transportation.
