Sebastian Salas Signs Pro Contract!

August 10, 2011 – Sebastian Salas from Team H&R BLOCK has signed his first Professional contract of his career with Team Exergy who has requested his service for the remainder of the 2011 season. Discussions are still ongoing for 2012 and beyond, but the Vancouver, BC resident, who just started his cycling career 3 years ago with only 2 full seasons behind him, is taking one step at a time with the opportunity to represent Team Exergy for the remainder of the season.

Tad Hamilton – Director Sportif for Team Exergy states, “We have been following Sebastian’s progress all season and know that his strength in the mountains will deepen our roster at the upcoming US Pro Cycling Challenge, where many of the top teams in the world will be represented, including the top three finishers of the 2011 Tour de France.”

Sebastian commented, “I am very grateful for the opportunity and support that was given to me by Team H&R BLOCK and am now looking forward to taking the next step as a member of Team Exergy”.

Team H&R BLOCK – Director Sportif, Mark Ernsting states, “It has been a real pleasure to have had Sebastian represent the program and on behalf of the riders, management and Team sponsors we wish Sebastian all the best for the upcoming US Pro Cycling Challenge, his opportunity with Team Exergy and his future endeavors in the sport”.

Team H&R BLOCK has had a great season including results by Sebastian: 2nd place GC at Mt. Hood, 3rd place stage at Tour de Beauce, 3nd place Tour de White Rock Hill Climb, 7th at Canadian National Road Championships, as well as several other top 10 finishes at a few other NRC events, to mention a few. Sebastian represented Team H&R BLOCK for 2010 and 2011. During these two seasons with the Team, Sebastian has developed his skills to become one of the finest climbers in North America as well as a future Tour contender.

Sebastian Salas will join forces at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge with Andres Diaz, Matt Cooke, Freddie Rodriguez, Carlos Alzate, Kai Applequist, Sam Johnson and Erik Slack to take on the world’s best, high in the Colorado mountains in two weeks time. Watch the entire race on “Versus” network.
