July 12, 2008 – BC’s Scott Erwood has won the Olympic BMX Trial race off against Alberta’s Jim Brown and has unofficially earned Canada’s Olympic BMX Men’s selection. Erwood, who was recently crowned 2008 National BMX Elite men’s champ, had garnered Canada the Olympic spot by making the quarter finals earlier this year at the 2008 BMX Worlds, which lead to the controversial Olympic BMX Trial race off. Pundits will be happy as this spreads the interest between Canada’s two main BMX provinces Alberta and BC with Sam Cools from Alberta already selected to the Elite women’s team.
