January 7, 2006 – Scott USA announces that its pro tour team, Saunier Duval-Prodir, will contest the Tour of California. The team will consist of eight riders: Simoni, Marchante, Gil, Pinotti, Ricco, Benitez, Dionne and Olsson. They will also be coached by Joxean Matxin Fernandez.
After the race, three riders, Marchante, Gil, and Simoni, will head the the Allied Aerospace wind tunnel in San Diego. The team will conduct aerodynamic tests of the riders aboard their new Plasma TT bikes. They will be joined by David Millar, who will train and test with the other riders.
Scott conducted initial aero testing of their new ultralight time-trial/triathlon frame, the Plasma, at the wind tunnel in San Diego. Because of the success of the test, the tunnel was again hired by the team to test their Pro Tour equipment. Santini will be on hand to analyse their outfits, designed with cutting-edge technology already used in high-speed skiing and swimming. Ritchey will be proving their new time-trial handlebars as well as Selle Italia and MET. MET will put to the test their different helmet models: integral, simple, for time-trial, and others.
