“I launched Sherbrooke this week after couple of months sounding the market,” Dubé told Pedal. “The website should be fully functional by the end of this month.”
“Cycling is very popular in the Eastern Township and by doing a show in Sherbrooke I will cover the Montreal – Quebec — Sherbrooke triangle. Also, many shows from Montreal and Quebec are also held in Sherbrooke. There was previously a yearly bicycle show in Sherbrooke couple of year ago and it was popular, but it was always the same year after year so interest eventually went down.”
Dubé said the idea to open a show in Sherbrooke was his, but the local tourist office and the Exhibition Centre approached him as well.
“The Sherbrooke show will follow the same general format as my two other shows. But we will put some emphasis on fat bikes because Destination Sherbrooke wants to develop this new market.”
Dubé claims that his Quebec City show is almost sold out for 2015 and that the Montreal show will be at least 20% bigger than in 2014. Montreal also sees a triathlon show in 2015 running concurrently with the bike show and at the same venue.
As reported earlier, there are now two competing consumer bike shows in Quebec City with the rival Salon Info Vélo there celebrating its 30th edition in 2015. Pedal believes that the dates are March 6-8.
Sherbrooke is a city with a regional population of some 200,000 in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, about 110 minutes east of Montreal.
