Sad News – Durham Cycling Club’s Roman Manko Killed While on Group Ride

April 06, 2015 (Clarington, ON) – Roman Manko, the president of the Durham Cycling Club, was struck and killed while on an early spring bike ride on Sunday, April 5 in rural Clarington, east of Toronto, reports CBC. Manko of was described as “an experienced rider” and was part of a group of eight cyclists attempting a left turn when a passing vehicle struck Manko.

“He will be sorely missed by our fraternity,” the Durham Cycling Club said in a statement. A club meeting is being held tonight (Monday) to honour Manko.

Manko, 60, lived in nearby Bowmanville.
