Russian Zabirova Wins!

October 9, 2002 (Zolder, Belgium) – It was third time lucky for Russia's Zoulfia Zabirova at the women's world individual time trial championship in Zolder, Belgium. The 28-year-old stayed ahead of Switzerland's Nicole Brändli and Karin Thüring to take her first time trial rainbow jersey after having finished second twice. In 1997 and 1998 Zabirova won a silver in this event. 2002 is turning out as a fine season for her. This victory marks her sixth of the season.
