Rose Festival Criterium Update

May 27, 2005 – On June 5th 2005 the St. Catharines Cycling Club presents the Rose Festival Criterium. This event located in Welland is considered one of Ontario’s longest continuous races. The course remains with its traditional 2.2 km circuit weaving around and through picturesque Chippawa Park. However it will follow last year’s direction finishing with a slight downhill (counter-clockwise).

Run as this year’s first full Citizen Event, the Rose Festival will have three races that will be solely based on ability:

The 9:00am race will be for beginners with citizen permits or for those licenced riders that feel that their ability is at a lower level than their peers. Some Master D Men and Master Women as well as some Cadets may find this race better for their ability level.

The 10:00am race will be for those experienced club racers that may have not taken a full licence before and for those licenced riders (RS3, RMD, RMC, most RMB, some RMA and some RJ) who are not yet ready for the speed and challenge of the Open race.

The 11:00am race requires a full UCI licence and is where the top riders of the province will be competing. All UCI licence riders are eligible to race the Open event but we ask that you choose wisely based on your ability level.

There will be a field limit of 120 riders for all races.

On-line registration is available for a discounted rate and closes at noon on Saturday June 4. Both one day permits ($5) and full Citizen Permits will be available at registration. Prizes will be based on turn out.
