May 13, 2014 (North Vancouver, B.C.) – Q Energy Drink, the Bhutan Olympic Committee and Amankora are thrilled to once again present the most incredible (and most incredibly difficult) prize ever offered to the Canadian XC Mountain Biking community! One champion rider is going to the Kingdom of Bhutan to ride in the 2014 Tour of the Dragon!

Imagine racing through the Himalayas, filling your lungs with the cleanest air on the planet, cranking past virgin old growth forests that seem more ancient than the mountains themselves, touching the roof of the world, and doing it all in a country that measures it’s wealth in Gross National Happiness. This is a once in a lifetime experience – one lucky and incredibly talented mountain biker will be bragging about it for years to come!
The Tour of the Dragon is a one day 268km XCMB race that tests the will and ability of any rider. In addition to the distance, the course sees racers climb some 3,790m and descend 3,950m!
We have partnered with three of Canada’s premiere XCMB races to find a rider strong enough to send to the Tour of the Dragon. Four top finishers from each race (see the nitty gritty) will have their names placed into a drawing to see which lucky rider will go to Bhutan to do this epic event. Did we mention that the Bhutan Olympic Committee will take care of the flight from Canada and that you’ll have an all expenses paid week at the 5 star Amankora Resort (complete with car, guide, and driver) prior to the race to get acclimated as well as a couple of days afterward to recover.
Do you have what it takes? Ride in the Test of Metal, the NIMBY 50 or the Sudbury Canada Cup / Ontario Cup. On July 18, 2014 we will draw a single name from a pool of four top finishers from each race. One rider from that elite group will find out they are being sent to the Kingdom of Bhutan for the experience of a lifetime.
If you’re really picky the prizing rules are here (nitty gritty). On the other hand, you could just head out and start riding. You’re not going to win by sitting on the couch…
