Quebec News: Numainville Scores Hat Trick, Rollin Not at Road Nationals

by John Symon

June 23, 2009 (Pont-Rouge, QC) – This past weekend saw road races, time trials and crit races at the GP Pont-Rouge leading up to the selection of the Quebec team for the Canada Summer Games. Joelle Numainville (ESGL 93-GSD Gestion) won an impressive three out of three races in the women’s U23 category, securing a berth on the team.

Among the U23 men, it was Guillaume Boivin (VW Specialized) and Hugo Houle (Garneau) who finally edged out David Boily (Pro Bike Pool Kuota) in the GC. Boily nonetheless remains a substitute for the August 16-21 Games in Summerside, PEI.

Meanwhile, noted Quebecois cyclist Dom Rollin (Cervelo Test Team) indicated that will not participate at the June 26-28 Nationals in Beauce reports rue Frontenac. Rollin has not completely recovered from a bout with mononucleosis and feels alright, but does not have the ‘green light’ yet from his doctor. He did participate in a charity ride last week with Floyd Landis (OUCH) in Bromont, QC.
