Quebec MTB Championships 2007

August 20, 2007 (Buckland, QC) РRaphael Gagn̩ (Rocky Mountain Haywood) won the senior elite Quebec cross-country race this weekend while Charles-Alexandre Dub̩ (Cove Bikes) won the downhill event at the 2007 Quebec MTB Championships at Massif du Sud in Buckland, QC.

“I felt in good physical shape and was comfortable on the slippery course. After one lap, I had a one-minute lead and continued to build it until I finished 5:40 ahead of my closest rival, Marc-André Daigle. I finished the five laps in 1:52:00. This result is very encouraging given that I am preparing for the 2007 MTB World Championships in less than three weeks,” said Gagné.

Karine Travaillaud (Club de Vélo de Montagne de Val-David) won the elite women’s cross-country race.

In the downhill, Charles-Alexandre Dubé (Cove Bikes) headed home with the Quebec championship title in his pocket after recording a perfect race in a time of 3:04. He also stirred up a little dust in doing so. Dubé is very happy with this performance after a difficult beginning to the season caused by a thumb injury.

Geneviève Gagnon (Gravitesse) won the women’s elite downhill by less than 30 one thousandths of a second over Sophie Poirier de Saguenay.

A total of 635 cyclists competed at the 9th round of the Devinci Québec Cup.
