Quebec Cyclocross Season Starts Saturday

September 12, 2005 – The Québec Cup provincial cyclocross series bikes, jumps, and runs into full swing this Saturday September 17 at the Centre National de Cyclisme a Québec in Saint-Augustin, Québec. The St-Augustin course – the site of last year’s Provincial Championships – promises to take ‘crossers on a varied ride through fields, up hills, over the Velodrome, and onto the BMX track, testing skills to the limit.

Although small in quantity – the season has only six Federation- sanctioned races – the race series has grown in popularity over the past few years and is considered an independant sport apart from the related disciplines of road and mountain biking. Last year’s provincial champion Benoît Simard spent fall 2004 racing in Belgium to hone his skills – an experience that will surely bear fruit for the 2005 season. Will women’s category dynamo Kassandra Côté reign supreme once again this year? Will Luc Proulx dominate the Masters category? Come out for a race and see!

Roadies in search of superior handling skills, and mountain bikers in search of crit-like intensity can both benefit from cyclocross racing. Spectators can marvel at the mud, the speed, and the glory of it all. Come one come all for a muddy-good time! For all the muddy details, please refer to
