February 2, 2008 (Qu̩bec City, Que.) РOn Wedneday, Jan. 30, Jean Leclerc, chairman of the board of the Soci̩t̩ du 400e anniversaire, together with R̩gis Labeaume, mayor of Qu̩bec City, received the 400th Anniversary of Qu̩bec collector coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint.

The Société du 400e would like to salute the initiative of the Royal Canadian Mint in issuing a collector coin representing Samuel de Champlain and the first habitation built at the foot of Cape Diamond to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of Québec. This is a wonderful way to share the sprit of the celebrations Canada-wide!

“The 400th Anniversary of Québec is an important milestone in our history and we are thrilled that the Royal Canadian Mint has issued a collector coin to mark this occasion,” noted Jean Leclerc, chairman of the board of the Société.

Sixty-five thousand of these one-dollar silver collector coins will be struck. Those wishing to purchase a coin can contact the Royal Canadian Mint directly for information on points of sale.
