Plastiglas Ontario Cup #2 Race Report

May 17, 2005 – It was a record turnout for the Plastiglas Ontario Cup #2 at Albion Hills Conservation Area with 765 participants. Albion Hills plays host to North America’s largest 24 hour mountain bike events and it made the perfect 1st time venue for an Ontario Cup. Riders raved about the enduro-style course and the new sections of singletrack.

The Elite Men’s race was once again won by Derek Zandstra of Bay Cycle/3 Rox followed very closely by a hard charging 1st year senior Adam Morka of Team Hardwood, and Martin Lazarski of Rocky Mountain Business Objects. Amanda Sin of Bay Cycle/3 Rox set a blistering pace for the Elite Women’s field putting 4 minutes on the next rider! Sue Trimble of Gears Racing and Stephanie Martinek of Arrow Racing both rode strong in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Bay Cycle /3 Rox dominated the Junior Expert Men’s and Women’s categories with Andrew Wilson and Sarah Coney taking the win.

We’d like to thank everyone who participated and supported the largest Ontario Cup during the last eight years. Special thanks to our venue Albion Hills Conservation Area, the Canadian Ski Patrol, Allan Hawley’s timing crew, our staff and our title sponsor Plastiglas Industries.
