Pierre Lavoie Retains Ironman Title in Hawaii

October 18, 2005 – Pierre left Canada on October 11 with one goal in mind: winning. Once again he surpassed himself and reached his objective. For the second year in a row, he won the famous Hawaii Ironman. Known as one of the most gruelling sporting events in the world, the Hawaii Ironman gathers the best elites and every Ironman title is very coveted.

1800 athletes from all over the world participated in this year’s competition. 247 athletes in the 40-44 years age category completed the challenge.
To win his title, Pierre raced:
“¢ 3.8 km of swimming in 1 hour and 56 seconds,
“¢ 185 km of cycling in 4 hours 52minutes and 38 seconds,
“¢ 42 km of running in 3:04minutes and 27 seconds

Pierre’s time of 9 hours 2 minutes and 25 seconds is a new World Record. The old record of 9 hours and 5 minutes had been unbroken for ten years in this 40-44 years age category. Pierre has left his mark in Hawaï and improved the record by 3 minutes.
