“Peppermint is facing a huge challenge this morning,” the owners wrote on Facebook. “So as you might’ve understood already by looking at the pictures, we’ve received some sad news this morning. The brand new Peppermint House burned during the night and so did all of our stocks, promotional materials and basically, everything we had.”

According to the company website, Peppermint was founded by Michèle Bastien and Véronik Bastien : twin sisters “…overflowing with energy, passionate by cycling and aiming to create a new innovative and engaging brand.” Peppermint creates, develops and commercializes fashionable functional cyclewear that meets the demands of women, continues the website.

“We’re currently working to come up with a short term plan to get back on our feet as soon as possible. Almost all of the Fall orders were sent and for the unlucky few that we couldn’t send in time, we’ll let you know via email and of course, refund in full.”

“It’s one of the toughest test we’ve ever had to face but we know that with the help & support of the PEPPERMINT community, we’ll be back stronger than ever.

“In the meantime, our ambassadors will be on their bikes in the next weekend’s upcoming events as we regroup to plan our next moves. We’ll let you know via our Facebook page and our newsletter as soon as we can.”

Several other businesses were also destroyed with street addresses of 2044-2046 and 2048 du chemin du Village. Among those businesses lost was the local newspaper office, L’Information du Nord Mont-Tremblant. The newspaper nonetheless managed to produce an online report but gave no indication as to a possible cause for the fire.
