by pedalmag.com

December 28, 2015 (Toronto, ON) – With only four days left to vote, things are heating up in Pedal’s Annual Cycling Awards for 2015 honouring Canada’s top riders in ALL categories from this past season.

In the Best Overall Cyclist (Male or Female) category, it’s a close race between three front runners: Raphael Gagné, Emily Batty, and the Women’s Team Pursuit (Jasmin Glaesser, Kirsti Lay, Allison Beveridge, Laura Brown, Steph Roorda, Annie Foreman-Mackay) who are leading. The WTP is also out front for the Best Track Senior Cyclist (Male or Female) category but in the hunt are Hugo Barrette and the Men’s Team Pursuit (Remi Pelletier-Roy, Sean Mackinnon, Ed Veal, Adam Jamieson, Aidan Caves, Evan Burtnik).

Can anyone stop Benjamin Perry in the Best Overall Senior/U23 Male Cyclist award, also leading the Best Road Senior/U23 Cyclist (Male or Female) category. Meanwhile Batty has a solid gap in the Best Overall Senior/U23 Female Cyclist competition as well as the Best MTB XC Senior/U23 Cyclist (Male or Female) category.

Jordann Jones looks like the clear favourite so far for the Best Overall Junior Male Cyclist award, with a close race in the Best Overall Junior Female Cyclist contest between leader Katherine Maine with Soren Meeuwisse, and Amelia Bell just behind.

For Best MTB DH Senior Cyclist (Male or Female), Steve Smith looks like he’s well on his way to the win, while Ruby West is being challenged by Michael van den Ham in the Best CX Senior/U23 Cyclist (Male or Female) category, with his recent CX action in Europe, while Catherine Pendrel is still in the mix.

In the Best BMX Cyclist (Male or Female), Pan Am Games Champion Tory Nyhaug is leading, but Amelia Walsh is still in the running.

The Best Paracycling Cyclist (Male or Female) race is now a tight race between leader Shelley Gautier (Cerebral Palsy-Tricycle T1) and strong challengers Daniel Chalifour (Visually Impaired) and Alexandre Cloutier (Tandem Pilot).

Don’t miss your chance to make your voice heard – and remember these awards recognize all of the top talent in Canada from juniors, to seniors, to U23’s and paracyclists – from all disciplines including road, MTB, DH, cyclocross, track and BMX.

Every province has riders contributing with many stand-out cycling moment/performances from 2015 from Jasmin Glaesser’s four medals at the TO2105 Pan Am Games, to Raphael Gagne’s amazing season that began with winning the US CUP Pro XCT Series, to Allison Beveridge taking home Ominum Track World Cup gold, and Monique Sullivan winning a historic three golds at the TO2105 Pan Am Games… enough said.

There are some fun but important other categories as well including your Favourite Cycling Coffee Shop, Bike Shop, Race/Event and Places to Ride.
