August 18, 2011 (Ottawa, ON) – The Canada Games Council (CGC), in support of Sports Day in Canada on September 17, invites all students, schools and community centres from across the country to Catch the Spirit of the Canada Games by organizing a Canada Games Day.
Canada Games Days is an event that offers children of all ages a sport and educational experience that mirrors the excitement and spirit of the Canada Games; Canada’s largest multi-sport event which is held every two years, alternating between summer and winter.
Throughout the week of September 12-17, 2011 leading up to Sports Day in Canada, help get kids physically active and participating in sport by organizing a Canada Games Day in your area.
“A Canada Games Day is a fun way to get kids involved in physical activity,” says Canada Games Council Chair Tom Quinn. “These events not only promote success and inclusion for all participants, but help uphold all the benefits that are essential to healthy childhood development.”
Canada Games Days’ events are part of the CGC’s Dreams and Champions programs and reinforce the CGC’s commitment of encouraging all young Canadians to make physical activity and fitness a key part of their daily lifestyle, and promote the development of young athletes and provide the tools and support programs for them to reach and succeed at the highest levels.
