Ontario Provincial Criterium Championships This Weekend

August 29, 2006 – Amhersburg and The Caboto Velo Club are excited to announce the return of the Tour of Historical Amherstburg Bike Race. A core committee of bike riding professionals along with local business leaders are organizing this Provincial Criterium Championship race. The championship tour is expected to attract 400+ cyclists from across Ontario and the United States in a competitive race that will both challenge its riders and entertain visitors and guests.

Amherstburg was chosen to be the host site for this prestigious race. The historic ambiance of the town center and unique 1.2km-racing course is the perfect setting for the Provincial Championship Race. The race has been brought back to Amherstburg to further establish and promote competition, sportsmanship, bicycle safety, recreation, and spectator support.

In addition, the merchants and major service clubs in Amherstburg will be participating in various activities in order to offer a full “family oriented day” for this event. All of the scheduled activities, such as the exciting race itself, and children’s program will be free of charge to all citizens and visitors!

Featured for the Family Free Wheelin’ Festival will be a 4-Hour Meet and Greet with Dora the Explorer’s cousin Diego from the popular Nick Jr. children’s show “Go Diego Go!” and Windsor’s own Clarol the Clown.
