August 22, 2004 – In the only action for the U.S. Olympic Cycling Team in Sunday’s morning session at the velodrome, Jennie Reed (Kirkland, Wash.) posted the ninth fastest time in her 200m qualifying heat.Twelve riders are entered in the event with qualifying rounds used to seed riders for this evening’s 1/8 Finals.

Reed’s time of 11.622 seconds earned her a match-up with world championship bronze medalist, Lori-Ann Muenzer (CAN) who clocked the morning’s fourth best time of 11.380 seconds.

Olympic 500m time trial champion and world record holder, Anna Mears (AUS) posted a 11.291 to grab the top seed.

In tonight’s 1/8 finals, Reed can automatically advance to Monday’s 1/4 finals. If she loses to Muenzer, then Reed will compete in the repechage round where a win would keep her in the competition.
