Norco Bicycles Introduces the Optic

release by Norco Bicycles

April 14, 2016 (Port Coquitlam, BC) – Norco Bicycles introduced the all-new Optic today, a fast-pedaling trail bike that rides with just the right mix of cross country efficiency and all mountain playfulness. With modern trail geometry adapted from Norco’s award-winning Sight and Range, and an efficient A.R.T. suspension system, the Optic shares the handling characteristics of its longer travel siblings but in a lighter, nimbler package. The incredibly versatile trail bike is ideal for flowing singletrack, trail centres, adventure races and marathon XC.

Available in either a 120mm travel 650B platform or 110mm 29er, the Optic also represents the next evolution of Norco’s geometry philosophy. The Optic 29er has been carefully engineered to fit and handle like the 650B version, but with the advantages of larger wheels. Boost 148mm spacing allows the chainstays of the Optic 29er to be reduced to the same length as those on the 650B, while at the same time maintaining 2x compatibility with a removable front derailleur mount.

Up front, the combination of a longer front centre, steeper head angle and shorter stem provide added leverage over the larger 29″ wheels to maintain similar handling characteristics. Although the traditional reach and stack fit measurements are different between a medium Optic 650B and 29er, when stem length is incorporated, what Norco calls Reach Plus and Stack Plus, the fit between the two bikes is identical.

Capable geometry and efficient suspension are complimented by a dialed spec that includes wide bars, wide rims, capable tires, a stealth dropper post, 1x drivetrains and custom-tuned Fox suspension. The Optic is ready for anything the trail throws its way.
