September 10, 2014 (Ottawa, ON) – Cycling enthusiast and long-time Cycling Canada employee Nicholas Vipond has announced he will be leaving his role as Competitions Coordinator to join the ranks of Biathlon Canada, as Domestic Programs Manager.

Vipond will officially end his duties at Cycling Canada on September 15, but will remain the Technical Delegate for the 2014 Canadian BMX Championships in Drummondville, QC from October 3-5, and the 2014 Canadian Cyclo-Cross Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on October 25, important files he has been leading for the past year.

“Nicholas has been instrumental in implementing our Canadian Championships structure over the last two years,” said Mathieu Boucher, Director of Performance Development. “His undeniable skills and extensive knowledge will be difficult to replace as he gained tremendous and intricate knowledge about event planning, rules and regulations while at Cycling Canada.

“Over the past seven years I have had many great opportunities and gained valuable experiences while working at Cycling Canada. CC has given me a great opportunity to grow as a professional and develop a very valuable skill set that I will take with me to Biathlon Canada. I am excited for my new adventures with Biathlon Canada, but will certainly miss my family at Cycling Canada and all of our athletes and organizers who have done so much to grow the sport of cycling in Canada. ,” said Vipond, who will remain active within the sport of cycling managing the Stevens-The Cyclery team as well as offering his coaching and sport psychology services to athletes.
