Newfoundland and Labrador to Introduce Mandatory Helmet Law for Cyclists

December 10, 2014 – The province of Newfoundland and Labrador is introducing a new bicycle helmet law that will make it mandatory for all cyclists of all ages to wear a helmet, effective April 1, 2015, according to cbc.ca. The article states that, according to the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA), the province holds one of the highest cycling-related injury rates in Canada. Fines for breaking the new law to be enforced under the Highway Traffic Act will range between $25 and $180. Read the full article here.
