November 2, 2009 (Kelowna, BC) – I am starting a youth road and mountain bike cycling club in Kelowna. I believe this is Kelowna’s next step to even more promote our sport. The mindset of this group is primarily to get the youth out on their bikes but they will also learn how to be safe on the bike whether in a group, traffic or both. Basic cycling skills and techniques will also be taught in both the road and mountain bike sections. Dan Proulx has agreed on hosting a few development sessions for the club. The social aspect of this club will be huge, even more so off the bike (pizza parties, movie nights, etc.). I have worked this club out of ChainLine Cycle but my motive is for this club to be an all of Kelowna based club. The reason being, is so that cross affiliations will absolutely not be an issue and other shops can offer to pitch in, in one way or another and keep supporting this club.
