July 1, 2006 — According to a report in La Presse Daniel Manibal, president of the Montreal Women’s Road World Cup, is proposing a Montreal to Boston stage race that would launch in August 2007. Manibal foresees the event starting in Montreal with cyclists racing through parts of Quebec, Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts to finish in Boston. The race would be integrated into the UCI’s North American calendar on a similar level as the USA’s Tour of California and the Tour of Georgia. Economic and cultural aspects would be part of the event. Manibal has already made some trips to the USA to get the ball rolling, but much is still to be done.
