March 26, 2006 – The XIX Commonwealth Games were awarded to New Delhi, India at the CGF General Assembly in November, 2003. New Delhi defeated Canada’s candidate city, Hamilton, ON, to win the right to host the 2010 Games.

This will be the first time the Games are hosted in India, the most populous country in the Commonwealth.

The New Delhi Games are tentatively scheduled for October-November, 2010.
