Neal Kindree and Lauren Rosser Receive Awards

February 12, 2008 – Neal Kindree and Lauren Rosser of Squamish were two of the lucky corridor athletes selected to receive financial assistance from Pemberton’s Chance for Kids Foundation.

Awards were given out on Saturday, February 5 by Lonne Clark who described to the gathered crowd the achievements of each athlete before presenting them with their cheque. Neal Kindree has received this award before, but for Lauren Rosser it was a first.

“I was pretty excited and a little nervous,” confessed the 14 year old. “I’ve never been to something like that before, but an am so grateful for the help.” Lauren’s parents, Ron and Sherry commented that they can’t thank the organization enough for the support. “There was such a sense of community spirit and it put smiles on all our faces. It is so generous of the Pemberton people to share their funds with young members of the athletic community throughout the corridor.”

The foundation supports students engaged in the pursuit of Olympic sports. Both Neal Kindree and Lauren Rosser are members of Team Squamish – Neal is a seasoned member, but this is Lauren’s first year. She had an excellent riding season last year, including being one of the local riders on the Provincial Team who also podiumed at the XC Nationals – in first place.
