MTB\’rs Burn Rubber at The First-Ever Red Bull SkyRide

January 31, 2006 – On February 8, 50 mountain bikers will race one mile through the St. Paul Skyway system in the first ever Red Bull SkyRide. This is the first time the Skyway as seen anything like this and we hope you can make it out. Below is more detailed information.

Mountain Bikers Burn Rubber Through St. Paul Skyways At The First-Ever Red Bull SkyRide
Minnesota Skyways – You’ve Been Warned!

WHAT:
50 mountain bikers will race one mile of the St. Paul, Minnesota skyways at the first-ever Red Bull SkyRide. The skyways, built for pedestrian traffic, have never before hosted a high-speed event such as this! Beyond crowning the fastest mountain biker, the event will change how people view the skyways.

WHO:
50 amateur mountain bikers from across Minnesota. Racers, while partaking in a once-in-a-lifetime experience, will be gunning for bragging rights and creative prizes. The racers will be spread in one-minute intervals as they compete against the clock.

WHEN:
Wednesday, February 8, 2006

Tentative Event Schedule
5 – 6:30 p.m. Registration Begins (Loto Restaurant – Galtier Plaza – 380 Jackson St.)
6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Athlete Meeting/Course Walk-Thru
7:45 p.m. First Racer Off

A reception for media and athletes will take place after the event at Patrick McGovern’s Pub – 225 7th Street West.

WHERE:
St. Paul, Minn. – Skyway System
The race starts in Galtier Plaza (380 Jackson St.) and ends in the lobby/concourse of the Excel Energy Center.

Red Bull SkyRide will take racers through the following buildings/structures: Galtier Plaza, Heritage Square, US Bank, Fifth Street Center, Bremer, University Club, Pioneer Press, Victory Parking Structure, The Lowery, Landmark Tower, River Centre Tunnel and Excel Center.
