MTB Canada Cup DH #2 — Report

May 31, 2005 – The course was typical Tremblant, wet and muddy. Race day was looking great until the gondola had to be closed due to an approaching lightning storm which delayed the race by about an hour.

Some of the men’s early starters got to ride a much drier course as the rain started to fall again about five riders into the start. There were two noteable DH stories from the weekend. The first was Danika Schroeter’s (Giant Bicycle Canada) win over world cup superstar Fionn Griffiths (Norco Factory Team). Fionn seemed surprised but to those of us who know Danika it was just a matter of time. The other news was Eric Goss’s (Giant Bicycle Canada) second place finish after nearly breaking his neck at DH #1 at Bromont only one week prior.
