July 26, 2006 – Last night was the first track event of the Mike’s Bike Shop cup cycling series. Charles Cormier was the winner with a time of 13.62 seconds over 200 meters. Chris Selkirk and Jeremy Hebert were close behind with second and third place respectively. Selkirk’s second place enabled him to take the overall lead in the series with 460 points. With Charles Cormier moving up to second with 420 points.

Cyclists racing around the velodrome with an inclination of more than 38 degrees at speeds exceeding 60km/h, that is the essence of track racing. Whether it is a individual event such as the Kilo, the 200m or the pursuit or a pack event like the points race, speed, tactics and action are sure to be present.

The Mike’s bike shop cup is a series of weekly races held on Tuesdays nights. The series also includes BMX and cyclocross events to be held later in the summer. The overall winner of the series will pick a charitable organization to which a donation from the registration proceeds will be made.
