April 24, 2015 (Montreal, QC) – Recently Mecano Velo held its grand opening in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville district. Co-owners Frédéric Giroux and Maxime Lassailly offer BMC, Colnago, Garneau, Marin, Norco, and Rocky Mountain bikes at this new store.
“We previously operated as a repair business out of a home address, but have now taken the plunge to open a store,” said Giroux.
“It was actually quiet here last Tuesday, but we became very busy by the weekend,” Lassailly told Pedal. “We mailed out 20,000 invitations to the store opening. Of course, the nice cycling weather has finally returned! A lot of people are very happy because there was no bike shop in this area before. Other people are coming in from elsewhere, attracted by by the brands we carry.”
Mecano Vélo now has 6,000 square feet of space between two floors. The store also carries a wide range of accessories – including such brands as Shimano, SRAM, Giro, Continental, Park, Mavic, Michelin, Endura, Italia, and Garmin – offers repairs, and hopes to offer basic courses for those wishing to learn how to do repairs. Mecano Velo also has plans for a virtual training centre. More details will be posted on the website.
