May 20, 2009 (Battle Creek, Michigan) – Melanie McQuaid gave herself the best birthday present possible by winning the XTERRA Midwest in challenging conditions in Fort Custer Satte Park outside Battle Creek. Sundog Active Sports Eyewear genuine performer McQuaid gift-wrapped her second win in the 2009 season’s second race to celebrate her 36th birthday in style.
“Winning made my birthday just a little happier (only turning 29 again would have been better),” joked McQuaid after completing the XTERRA course in 2:20: 26, almost three minutes ahead of Renata Boucher. McQuiad, the defending XTERRA U.S. Pro Series champion and three-time World Champion, took the title in impressive fashion with the second fastest swim, second fastest bike and second fastest run.
“There’s just no stopping Melanie,” said John Whitney, Sundog Eyewear Director Product Development. “She was ill all week prior to the event, but she battled through it and proved once again that she is the epitome of Sundog Active Sports Eyewear (ASE) genuine performer. Everyone at Sundog Eyewear congratulates Melanie on another great win and we all wish her a very happy birthday.”
