June 22, 2016 (Lachine, Que.) – While the money was on the Cycling Academy Team at Stage 3 of the Mardis Cyclistes de Lachine series on Tuesday night, it was Garneau-Quebecor’s Olivier Brisebois, Simon-Pierre Gauthier and Rémi Pelletier-Roy, who escaped with Pier-André Côté of TRJ Telecom-Desjardins Ford mid-race and never looked back.
“We worked well together. There was no way to slow down because we knew that the pros were burly,” said Brisebois. “We knew that if we wanted to go to the end, we had to work smart and that’s what we did.”
“I am extremely happy because I am fighting a disease for a month, but my performance tonight proves that I am on the road to recovery,” added the 19-year old cyclist.
Pelletier-Roy Pelletier echoed his comments. “We had a great opportunity and we took advantage of. We did not let impress,” he said Pelletier-Roy. “Hats off to Pier-André on his victory.”
In the women’s race, Raphaele Lemieux of the iBike training, won over Amélie Bruneau (The Cyclery-Opus), and Dominique Danco, of TRJ Telecom-Desjardins Ford.
Brisebois performance allowed him to seize the yellow jersey in the overall standings with 272 points with a margin of 18 points over Jean-François Laroche of Cycles Regis, who finished sixth on the stage. Lemieux now has 173 points and has a lead of 72 points over Bruneau.
