June 21, 2011 (Lachine, QC) – Jean-François Laroche (Fantino Mondello Regis) scored his first Mardis victory this season on Tuesday evening at round #3 taking the 50km Elite men’s sprint over last week’s winner Martin Gilbert (SpiderTech p/b C10) with Eric Lyman (Team Spirit GTH Cannondale) third on the podium. There were numerous crashes tonight starting with the minime races causing a delay to the start of the Elite men’s race which also featured 2-3 crashes. Overcast skies greeted races but there was no rain with the temperature around 28 degrees.
Austria’s Andreas Müller (Berliner TSC), a top track cyclist born in Berlin with 17 national titles (12x Austria, 5x Germany) and a bronze medal in the Scratch race at the 2009 Track World Championships, was on the start line as well and finished 6th – an interview with Muller is coming soon.
